These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Doctor247 website and online consultation services available at doctor247.ie. By booking a consultation or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. In this document, "Doctor247", "we", "us" and "our" refer to [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME] Ltd, trading as Doctor247, a company registered in Ireland under company number [COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER]. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the service.
Not for emergencies. Doctor247 must not be used for medical or surgical emergencies. If you need urgent help in Ireland, contact the emergency services on 999 or 112, or attend your nearest emergency department.
Doctor247 is an online telemedicine service that connects patients in the Republic of Ireland with general practitioners registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC). Consultations take place by secure video or telephone, and our doctors practise under the same clinical, ethical and prescribing standards that apply to general practice across Ireland. The service covers non-emergency primary care, including general GP consultations, dermatology, mental health, men's and women's health, paediatric care, respiratory assessments, pain management, sick certificates and treatment refills.
You must be at least 18 years old to book a consultation for yourself. Consultations for children are available, provided a parent or legal guardian is present throughout and gives consent on the child's behalf. You agree to give accurate, complete and current information when you register and at every consultation, and to keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.
To book, you select the service you need, choose an available time slot, complete a short clinical questionnaire, and pay the fee shown at checkout. A booking is confirmed once payment is received and the slot is reserved. Completing the questionnaire honestly is important, because the treating doctor relies on it to assess you safely.
The price shown when you select a service is the price you pay. We do not add booking fees, administration charges or hidden costs at checkout, and an automatic discount is applied where indicated. Payment is taken at the time of booking through our PCI-DSS certified payment processor. We may update our prices periodically, and any change applies only to bookings made after the new price takes effect.
If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please tell us as early as possible so the slot can be offered to another patient. Where we are unable to provide a consultation you have paid for, for example if a doctor cannot attend and we cannot reschedule you, we will offer a suitable alternative time or a refund.
Please note that the consultation fee pays for the doctor's clinical time and assessment, not for a guaranteed outcome. A fee is not refundable simply because a particular medication, certificate, referral or service was not provided, where the doctor has judged that it would not be clinically appropriate. The decision on treatment rests with the treating doctor. If you have a specific request or preference, contact our support team before booking so we can confirm whether it can be met.
Where a doctor decides that medication is appropriate, the prescription is sent to your nominated pharmacy through Healthmail for collection or delivery. It is your responsibility to give us the correct pharmacy details. Treatment refills for stable, ongoing conditions are available as a separate service, subject to a clinical check by the doctor.
For patient safety and in line with regulatory requirements, our doctors do not prescribe certain medicines through an online consultation. These include controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act and other higher-risk treatments, such as:
This list is a guide rather than a complete record. A booking made in order to request a controlled or restricted medication is not refundable. If you are unsure whether your treatment can be supported online, please ask our support team before booking.
Because an online consultation does not include a physical examination, there are situations a doctor cannot safely manage remotely and will redirect you to in-person care. These include, among others:
Other conditions may also be unsuitable for a video or phone consultation. Where that is the case, the doctor will explain why and talk through your options.
Where your condition genuinely warrants time away from work or study, a doctor can issue a private medical certificate during your consultation, which is delivered to you electronically. Standard certificates confirm that you are unfit to attend and the advised period of rest, without disclosing a diagnosis. Please be aware that private telehealth certificates may not be accepted by the Department of Social Protection for Statutory Sick Pay or illness benefit claims, so check the requirements that apply to your circumstances.
Our doctors provide primary mental health support, including assessment and onward referral. Some presentations are not suitable for safe management over a video consultation, in which case the doctor will advise you to attend a local GP or specialist service for follow-up. Because more than one doctor may be available, you might not always see the same clinician.
You are responsible for any consequences that follow from giving false, misleading or incomplete information, or from withholding symptoms relevant to your care. Honest and full disclosure allows the doctor to treat you safely.
We and our doctors may ask for government-issued photo identification at any time to confirm your identity and to meet legal and clinical obligations. If valid identification is not provided when requested, the consultation may be cancelled without a refund, and no prescription or document will be issued.
The clinical relationship is between you and the treating doctor. All clinical decisions, including diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, certificates and referrals, are made by that doctor using their professional judgement. Doctor247 provides the platform and support that make the consultation possible, and is not responsible for the independent clinical decisions of a doctor.
When you use the service, you agree to act honestly and respectfully, to comply with applicable law, and not to misuse the platform. This includes a prohibition on attempting to access systems without authorisation, scraping or automated data collection, transmitting harmful code, harassing staff or doctors, or using our branding without permission.
You may be invited to leave feedback after a consultation. Reviews must be truthful and free of offensive, discriminatory or unlawful content. By submitting feedback, you grant us permission to display it in connection with the service.
The content, design, logos and software that make up the Doctor247 platform are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes only, and you must not copy, reproduce or reuse our content without written permission.
We work to keep the platform secure and available, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from matters outside our reasonable control, including interruptions to internet or third-party services. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Irish law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We handle your personal and health data in line with GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Acts. Please do not send sensitive medical information by ordinary email. For full details of how we collect, use and protect your information, see our Privacy Policy.
We may revise these Terms periodically. When we do, we will publish the updated version on this page and update the date shown at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute relating to them is subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any protection you are entitled to under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
